An award-winning literary journalist, novelist and noted literary translator C.M. Mayo has been living in and writing about Mexico for over 25 years. Her latest book, Metaphysical Odyssey into the Mexican Revolution: Francisco I. Madero and his Secret Book, Spiritist Manual, which includes the first translation of nearly unknown work by the leader of Mexico’s 1910 Revolution and President of Mexico from 1911-1913, won the National Indie Excellence Award for History and has been presented at Stanford University’s Bolivar House; University of California San Diego’s Center for US-Mexican Studies; Rice University; a major conference on Francisco Madero in Mexico City’s National Palace and the prestigious Centro de Estudios de la Historia de México. It has been translated into Spanish as Odisea metafísica hacia la Revolución Mexicana.
Mayo is also the author of The Last Prince of the Mexican Empire, a novel based on the true story and named a Library Journal Best Book of 2009. She has lectured widely about her extensive original archival research behind this work at the Library Congress, at the Washington DC Historical Society, University of Texas Austin, and elsewhere.
